German Films Go North! 5th Festival of German Films in Copenhagen (24 – 27 November 2008) and Stockholm (5 – 7 December 2008)

2008-12-23

After five years, German Films Go North! has become firmly established in both Scandinavian countries - as shown by the well attended screenings.

This year’s festival in Copenhagen opened with CLOUD 9 (WOLKE 9). The director Andreas Dresen presented his film in person and a lively discussion ensued between the director and the audience. Also showing in the programme were TO FARO (MEIN FREUND AUS FARO) by Nana Neul, DR. ALEMAN by Tom Schreiber, JERICHOW by Christian Petzold, INBETWEEN DAYS (DIE BESUCHERIN) by Lola Randl, FOOTBALL UNDER COVER by Ayat Najafi/David Assmann and THE STRANGER IN ME (DAS FREMDE IN MIR) by Emily Atef and NEXT GENERATION. The Audience Award went to CLOUD 9.

JERICHOW opened the festival in Stockholm. There were also screenings of LOVE LIFE (LIEBESLEBEN) by Maria Schrader, DR. ALEMAN by Tom Schreiber, CHIKO by Oezgur Yildirim and INBETWEEN DAYS (DIE BESUCHERIN) by Lola Randl, and NEXT GENERATION. The closing film CLOUD 9 (WOLKE 9) was also introduced here by the director Andreas Dresen. The Swedish audience awarded the Audience Prize to LOVE LIFE.

This year also saw the staging of a well attended meeting in Stockholm with Swedish distributors to have an exchange on the respective film markets.
