81st OSCAR competition for „Best foreign language feature film“ Five films in the running for selection as the German entry

GERMAN FILMS is organising the selection procedure for the naming of the German entry 81st OSCAR competition in the category of BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FEATURE FILM.

A total of five German feature film productions were submitted by German producers to GERMAN FILMS. A nine-person, independent expert jury of representatives from the leading associations of the German film industry will decide after viewing the five films which one is to be sent into the OSCAR race for Germany.

The films are as follows:

DER BAADER MEINHOF KOMPLEX by Uli Edel
(Constantin Film Produktion, Munich)

DR. ALEMAN by Tom Schreiber
(2 Pilots Filmproduktion, Cologne)

CHERRY BLOSSOMS – HANAMI (KIRSCHBLUETEN – HANAMI) by Doris Doerrie
(Olga Film, Munich)

THE WAVE (DIE WELLE) by Dennis Gansel
(Rat Pack Filmproduktion, Munich)

CLOUD 9 (WOLKE 9) by Andreas Dresen
(Rommel Film, Berlin)


The result will be made known by GERMAN FILMS on 16 September and must be forwarded to the Academy in Los Angeles by 1 October at the latest.

The names of the selection jury have been published at www.german-films.de, German Films & the Academy Awards (OSCAR).
